STUDY ON INTERNATIONAL URBAN SYSTEM IN REGIONAL INTEGRATION PROCESS——Take Tumen River Area as an Example |

Abstract Since the 1980s', the urban geographical borderlines of the countries, which bordered in Tumen River Area, have expanded to the outsides due to regional economic integration, and the international urban system has formed. Otherwise, the economic development level of cities and towns in Tumen River Area is still lower and the scales are smaller either. So it is important to foster growth poles and perfect the function system for the international urban system in the area in order to promote the development of regional integration.
Main factors affect and restrict the development of international urban system in Tumen River Area are as following:development of geo-politics and geo-economy in Northeast Asia, constructions of trans-boundary corridors in Northeast Asia, and restricts of resources and environment in Tumen River Area.
In the process of the international urban system in Tumen River Area, in short-term, the core region, which is called "small triangle" with Hunchun city of China, Slavyanka of Russia and Rajin of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)as its angles, will be developed firstly. In long-term, cities and towns which are in the region called " large triangle" with Yanji city of China, Vladivostok of Russia and Chongjin of DPRK as its angles will be developed. Consequently, the international logistics center and growth pole in Northeast Asia will be formed with modern international network of urban system.
The principles to construct the international urban system in Tumen River Area should be supervising respectively and developing jointly.
